The Arab Army of Lebanon (Ahmad al-Khatib) and the nationalist forces shelled the presidential palace in Baabda on 25 March 1976 after Frangieh refused to resign; the president left the palace for Kfour in Kesrouan, and the nationalist forces took control of most of West Beirut.
