On 31 July 2023 Riad Salameh left the Banque du Liban after thirty years without a successor being appointed, and the first vice-governor Wassim Mansouri took over as acting governor with his three fellow vice-governors, on condition that lending to the state in dollars stop except by law; Salameh was arrested in Beirut in September 2024.
