On 1 December 2015 the 16 Lebanese soldiers kidnapped by the Nusra Front in Arsal in August 2014 were released through Qatari mediation and in exchange for the release of Islamist detainees, among them Saja al-Dulaimi; nine soldiers remained with ISIS until their remains were found in 2017.
