✍The Mar Mikhael understanding

On 6 February 2006 Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah and General Michel Aoun signed in the Mar Mikhael church in Chiyah the ten-point "memorandum of understanding" on weapons, reform and the relationship with Syria; it moved the Free Patriotic Movement into the 8 March camp and changed the country's balance. Three days earlier Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah had revealed from the Ashura platform that "a dialogue committee between us and them" had prepared a draft understanding to be put to the two leaderships, affirming that the party would stay in the government and calling for the principle of concord to be applied.
