The Arab Army of Lebanon and a number of Palestinian factions cut electricity, water and supplies to the areas of Qlaiaa, Marjayoun, Bint Jbeil and Rmeish, which were under the control of the majority-Christian Lebanese army and the Kataeb Party. The people of the besieged area coordinated with Israel to be supplied with weapons and ammunition, and through those channels of contact Saad Haddad formed the Free Lebanon Army.
