On 26 June 1998 an exchange took place through German mediation: Israel handed over 40 bodies of resistance martyrs, among them Sayyed Hadi Nasrallah, and released 60 detainees, in exchange for the body of the soldier Itamar Ilya, killed in the Ansariyeh ambush.
