⚔The day of fifteen: Debel and Taibeh, and the push to the Litani approved

On 9 August 2006 the enemy admitted 15 soldiers killed and 38 wounded in Aita al-Shaab, Debel and Taibeh (nine of them in a house in Debel that collapsed on them from a guided missile), Kiryat Shmona (24,000 people) was evacuated entirely, and "Khaibar 1" struck Beisan, Haifa and Jenin; six were martyred in Mashghara and four in Arsal. The security cabinet approved Peretz's recommendation to widen the operation up to the Litani, and the general staff sidelined the Northern Command chief Udi Adam in favour of Kaplinsky. In the evening Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah said the American–French draft "gives Israel through politics more than it failed to take in the field".
