On 4 August 2020, 2,750 tonnes of ammonium nitrate stored in hangar 12 of the port of Beirut since 2014 exploded, killing more than 220, wounding 7,000 and destroying whole neighbourhoods: one of the largest non-nuclear explosions ever.
