●Burning of the Danish consulate in Ashrafieh

On 5 February 2006 a demonstration against the Danish cartoons insulting the Prophet turned into rioting in Ashrafieh, in which the Danish consulate building was burned and cars and property attacked; a demonstrator was killed and the interior minister Hassan Sabeh resigned the same day. The Islamic forces condemned the rioting, and Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah said days later that protest must remain peaceful.
