●The Wazzani water crisis

On 16 October 2002 President Lahoud inaugurated the project to pump water from the Wazzani to irrigate the villages of the South, and Israel threatened that drawing the water was "a cause for war". Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah warned on 15 October that any attack on the Wazzani installations would be "a decision to open the northern front" and that "the reply will be very fast", within minutes, against pre-selected targets; Washington intervened and the project kept running at limited volumes.
