●Hezbollah's new political document

PartiesHezbollah

On 30 November 2009 Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah read out the party's second political document after the Open Letter (1985): Lebanon as "our final homeland" and the rejection of partition and federalism; consensual democracy until political sectarianism is abolished through a national body, because that is "very difficult"; the resistance as a "first duty" that needs no consensus to exist; an "objective, not personal" hostility to the American administration and the rejection of normalisation. At the press conference he affirmed that the Guardianship of the Jurist is "an intellectual, doctrinal and religious position, not a political position subject to review", and that the document does not deal with doctrine.
