●Nasrallah honouring journalists: "the only organisation with deposits in America is Fatah"

PartiesHezbollahUnited States

On 27 January 1995, days after Clinton's decision to freeze the assets of "terrorist" organisations, Hezbollah honoured media workers, and Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah said the awakening had begun with blood but needed "the word mixed with blood", and that the Islamic Resistance "set out from Islam" but is "for the defence of all the Lebanese people" and open to every sect and every rifle (the idea that became the Brigades three years later). He mocked the freeze: "We have no deposits in America; the only organisation with deposits is Fatah", called on the nation to draw up a counter "terror list", rejected the "complex of denunciation" whenever the resistance is accused, demanded resistance to occupation and normalisation together, and closed: "We have been Lebanese for hundreds of years, a land we leave only for the Kingdom of Heaven."
