¤The salary scale and its tax package passed

On 17 August 2017 parliament passed the public-sector salary scale after years of strikes by the Coordination Committee, with the raising of VAT to 11% and new fees; the scale raised public spending by about 1.2 billion dollars a year and was later counted among the causes that hastened the collapse.
