●Ashura uprising in Nabatieh

On 17 October 1983 (the tenth of Muharram) an Israeli patrol drove into the Ashura procession in Nabatieh; the participants rose up and attacked the vehicles with stones, and the soldiers' fire left dead and wounded. The incident turned the Shia South against the occupation and was the popular starting point of the resistance.
