●PFLP-GC founded (Jibril)

On 24 April 1968 Ahmad Jibril split from the Popular Front and founded the "Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine – General Command", of a purely military bent, with Syrian and then Libyan support, based in Lebanon. Among its most notable operations launched from the South: the Khalisa (Kiryat Shmona) operation of 11 April 1974, in which 18 Israelis were killed, and the hang-glider operation of 25 November 1987, in which six Israeli soldiers were killed.
