On the night of 1 June 2006, after the programme "Basmat Watan" on LBC showed a sketch mocking Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, thousands of young men came out in the southern suburbs, blocked roads and burned tyres, and the protests spread to other areas with friction in Ain el-Remmaneh and Ashrafieh; the party called for calm.
