The appointment of Detlev Mehlis to investigate Hariri's assassination (a man close to Israel). Days earlier Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah had told the Kuwaiti paper al-Rai al-Aam that if the report rested on political considerations "there is no need for fear", and if it rested on judicial evidence it would have major consequences, and that "Syria was the first to be harmed" by the assassination.
