✸The Ansariyeh ambush

On the night of 4–5 September 1997 an Israeli naval commando force fell into a Hezbollah and Amal ambush near Ansariyeh; 12 soldiers were killed, among them five officers (a lieutenant colonel, a major and three captains) and six NCOs. The resistance recovered remains of the dead soldiers, which became a bargaining card for recovering the prisoners.
