AttackerArmed Islamist groups (al-Qaeda, Nusra, ISIS, Assir…)➜TargetHezbollah
On 15 August 2013 a car bomb exploded in Rweiss in the southern suburbs, killing 27 people and wounding more than 300; a group calling itself the "Aisha Brigades" claimed it in reply to Hezbollah's fighting in Syria. The next day Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah said the bombing was not an assassination but a targeting of civilians for the largest number of victims, and pointed to the takfiri groups without ruling out Israel, refusing to hold the Sunni community responsible and pledging: "If the battle with these takfiri terrorists requires that I and all of Hezbollah go to Syria, we will go."
