On 10 August 2006 some two hundred Israeli soldiers with two tanks entered the Internal Security Forces and army barracks in Marjayoun without resistance, where some 350 Lebanese servicemen remained; Israel's Channel 10 and then al-Manar broadcast footage showing the barracks commander, Brigadier Adnan Daoud of the ISF, drinking tea and strolling with Israeli officers. Daoud was detained after the war on a charge of collaboration (and later released), and "the Marjayoun tea" became, in the resistance's rhetoric, a symbol of the state's dereliction, and especially of the interior minister Ahmad Fatfat. Daoud said the Israelis came in as "visitors" for four hours, and then the tanks blasted the gate open with shells.
