On 13 September 1993 Arafat and Rabin signed the Declaration of Principles (Oslo) at the White House, which set up the Palestinian Authority in Gaza and Jericho; Syria, Hezbollah and the rejectionist Palestinian factions opposed it, and it took the Palestinian cause out of the Lebanese–Syrian track.
